Artist
Carolyn Leaf is a contemporary abstract painter, who is based in Winchester, MA and Charlestown, RI. Working primarily in oil, Carolyn uses a vocabulary of lyrical brushstrokes and marks in vibrant color combinations to explore romanticized abstract fragments of Nature, without being specific about place.
Inspired by working in her summer studio in coastal southern Rhode Island overlooking dense wetlands, Carolyn has been fascinated by the wild natural landscapes as they must have been hundreds of years ago. Her recent “Love Notes” series no. 3 & no. 4 is a call out to the beauty of unbridled and un-manicured Nature with blue skies, brambles, and out of control vines that thicken the land. And with observation..it all moves in the wind. Nothing is stagnant. These recent paintings are pursuing more organic and flowing brushstrokes in an attempt to express movement and the more amazing and unpredictable aspects of Nature.
